York Cosy Club is located on Fossgate. We inhabit York's first purpose built cinema - The Electric Theatre.

Proud to be part of the well-known street, Fossgate, we opened on 19th April 2017. Step inside to a generous bar area to cater for every thirst, sitting just in front of our ground floor restaurant, secluded and comfortable.

It's also hard to miss our staircase which leads to a gorgeous top floor restaurant which is available for private hire and events. From here you can enjoy a handsome little spot to people watch on those in the bar.

Dating back to 1911 as The Electric Cinema and more recently the famous Macdonald's furniture shop, you'll find an eclectic mix of theatre-esc style and grandeur, alongside velvet chairs and wallpaper.

Sous Chef

The Cosy Club's are a rapidly growing group of city centre restaurants and bars. We are open all day, every day and serve great quality food and drink in a welcoming, relaxed & warm environment.

We are looking to recruit a Sous Chef to help support the existing team at this amazing site. We are recruiting for bright, bubbly, energetic and passionate chefs who want to play a key part in a swiftly evolving company, whilst helping to make a truly beautiful business as great as it can be. Frankly, who wouldn't want that?

This is an exciting role with a multi-award winning and fully established restaurant & bar brand that is set for great expansion over the next few years so don't miss the boat!

The position is very hands on and we will not consider applications without high volume branded restaurant experience.

Job requirements

  • You must have experience in cooking and preparing from fresh in high volumes, and be organised. Critically you will be working with the head chef and junior sous chef's looking after the quality control on all dishes that leave the kitchen to ensure they are tip top for our customers. Ideally, you will have branded and an independent background regarding your previous work history.
  • You must be able to motivate and lead a kitchen brigade in the Head Chefs absence, looking after when required; weekly orders, stock control and protecting the bottom line.
